white+reid continues to produce more incredible in situ concrete craft. This external BBQ and bench project with raised in-situ polished floor on two levels shows why. Each element was cast seamlessly. The clever bit is that all the concrete elements are sleeve dowelled to the floor. This allows them idependent movement with structural integrity. Take note of the shadow gap detailling as well. You don't get concrete like this without fantastic formwork, planning, commitment, heartache... and more than a bit of love and respect for the material.
